What’s Next?

Do you have a fear of the unknown? Do you wonder what’s in store for your life or your family members’ lives? Would you rather know the future, or would you rather not?

I told a friend the other day that I didn’t know what was coming next. I’m not too fond of that feeling. I have been caught off guard too often with tragedy or just plain bad news, so I try my hardest not to ever be in that position again, standing there when the rug gets pulled out from underneath my feet. I’m constantly bracing myself.

But try as I may, I find myself in that same spot again. Circumstances are out of my control, and I’m at the mercy of God Almighty to see where these circumstances lead me. I have no control over the situation. I can only control how I handle it and deal with the impending bad news.

However, God knows what the future holds. He knows every move I’ll make, every step I’ll take, every breath I’ll take (wait a minute… isn’t that a song? lol). In all seriousness, it’s true. He knows the number of hairs on my head, so how would He not know what tomorrow will bring?

In the GNT, Psalm 16:5 says, “You, Lord, are all I have, and You give me all I need; my future is in Your hands.”

What comfort that brings.

When life feels out of control, or I feel alone in this world, I know He is there and all I truly need.

When negative circumstances are knocking at the door, I know He will be there with me every step of the way.

He will carry it for me when I don’t think I can take anymore bad news.

When the weight of this world bogs me down, I can lay it at the foot of the cross and walk away.

He is faithful to provide just what we need precisely when needed. We might want the comfort of knowing what’s next in life, but we can lay our anxiety down and let Him take over.

Let’s place our futures in His hands together: our health, our family’s health, our marriages, our relationships, our jobs, even our dreams. Anything we can be fearful about… let’s hand it over to Him right now.

Can you feel the peace of letting go?

I’d love to hear what you have just let go of or what you still need to surrender. I will commit to praying for you as you face any uncertainty for your future. Feel free to email me through my contact information if you’d feel more comfortable. I want you to know you’re never alone.

Thank you for the beautiful reminder that God knows the future and that I can have peace when I trust Him.
